The Master of Theological Studies for the New Evangelization is a newly designed academic degree to equip laypersons and others to fulfill the call of Vatican II: to bring the beauty of the Gospel to the fields of work, culture, and family. The degree is directed by Angela Franks, Ph.D.
Serious spiritual training is needed to defend life and family in the modern world, to communicate the fact that Jesus Christ alone makes true love possible. The degree program combines academic rigor with spiritual growth, offering the kind of organic formation for laity that the Seminary pioneered in its MAM degree.
The goal of the MTS is to enable students to cooperate with grace in bringing about a personal integration of faith, reason, and desire so that you might fulfill your unique role within the Church’s mission: to advance the Kingdom of God’s love in every human heart. The MTS will focus on two main pathways of evangelizing the modern world: the theology of the body and Catholic social doctrine.
The MTS relies upon the four pillars of formation that the Seminary provides to seminarians and, through The Theological Institute, to lay people: academic, human, spiritual, and apostolic.
